Chelmsford Cathedral Canon for Worship and Music and Tutor at St Mellitus College

St Mellitus College is delighted to announce the appointment of the Revd Alison Kennedy as Canon for Worship and Music at Chelmsford Cathedral and Tutor in Theology at St Mellitus College. Alison is currently Team Vicar at St Peter’s Vauxhall in the Parish of North Lambeth.

Dean of Chelmsford, the Very Revd Nicholas Henshall said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming Alison to this new and exciting joint role, combining the development of worship and music at the Cathedral alongside a teaching role at St Mellitus College. The College meets at the Cathedral every week and the shared commitment to generous orthodoxy and the development of ministry has led to the creation of this post.  This is the first such joint appointment for both the Cathedral and the College and will enable us to strengthen this relationship.

“This is an exciting time for the Cathedral and the College.  The number of visitors and the variety of services at the Cathedral continue to grow, and the College is increasing in student numbers and the range of training offered. Both organisations have strong teams and we look forward to welcoming Alison.”

Dean of St Mellitus College, Revd Dr Andrew Emerton, said: “We are very grateful for the partnership which we share with Chelmsford Cathedral as the home of our Chelmsford teaching centre and its position within one of our founding dioceses. We are delighted to have appointed Alison to the post, who brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience to this unique role.”

Alison will be moving to Chelmsford with her husband and son.
